Meet Your Hosts!
Welcome to Tohi, a family-run woodland camp and nature preserve! We are your hosts, Colin and Grace Touhill, the heart and hands behind this hidden sanctuary nestled deep in the Pennsylvania forest.
Tohi is more than just a destination — it’s a passion project, a conservation effort, and a life-long dream brought to life. With backgrounds in environmental science, outdoor leadership and a lifelong love of nature, we care for this forest with the hope of inspiring meaningful connection — with loved ones, with the land, and with every guest who comes to visit.
Before Tohi came under the care of our family, it was at risk of being cleared for development. But we saw something worth protecting. With its rich biodiversity and deep historical roots, we knew this forest was meant to be preserved and thoughtfully tended, with respect for its past and future.
Once the property of Robert Mullen—founder of Philadelphia’s historic Tun Tavern—and later the site of Girl Scouts of America programs, Tohi has long been a place of gathering, learning, celebration, and shared purpose. Throughout this land’s history, it has hosted camping trips, jamborees, volunteer efforts, leadership adventures, and heartfelt celebrations like weddings, badge ceremonies, and family reunions. Today, we carry that tradition forward with care, ensuring Tohi remains a place to gather, grow, and create lasting memories for generations to come.
Colin, an Eagle Scout and enthusiastic outdoor adventurer, brings a passion for hands-on stewardship and exploration. Grace, with her background in wildlife conservation (and a special love for native plants!), advises our sustainable forestry practices and environmental education efforts.
We both grew up exploring streams and building forts, falling in love with winding trails, leafy hideaways, and the freedom to run wild. Now with our first baby on the way, we're excited to raise the next generation with that same wide-eyed sense of wonder and barefoot freedom we came to love.
Tohi is a family effort through and through. Don’t be surprised if you see our youngest siblings, Shawn and Kaitlyn, out and about on the property — stacking firewood, gathering kindling, or dreaming up craft ideas for other families to enjoy. They’re growing up immersed in the outdoors, learning not only how to care for the land, but also how to contribute with creativity, curiosity, and hard work. Whether they’re exploring the woods or lending a hand, they bring a sense of joy and imagination to everything they do here.
That spirit of creativity and care doesn’t stop with our family. It extends to the friends and artists who have helped shape Tohi into what it is today. We’ve been lucky to collaborate with talented individuals who bring their own unique touch to this place, like nature photographer David Wilcox and watercolor artist Taylor Radcliffe. Their beautiful work is proudly featured across our website, in our Woodland Pods, and soon in the Nature Center. These collaborations reflect the heart of Tohi, where art, nature, and community are harmoniously intertwined.
A deeply personal part of our story that has evolved alongside our work at Tohi is the Luke Touhill Foundation. The foundation was created in memory of our brother Luke, who passed away in May 2023 after his long battle with AML leukemia.
Luke had a boundless love for life and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. His adventurous spirit and curiosity inspired our family to create this foundation, which encourages youth to connect with nature and “live life to the fullest.” The Luke Touhill Foundation hosts various events at Tohi and beyond, including family nature walks, environmental cleanups, and educational programs. These initiatives aim to instill a sense of exploration and community among youth participants. To learn more about the Luke Touhill Foundation or participate in upcoming events, please visit our Foundation website.
We’re grateful that God has entrusted us with this little corner of the world, and even more excited that you’re here to enjoy it. Whether you're wandering the trails, watching the stars, or just soaking up the stillness, there’s always something waiting to be discovered here at Tohi.
See you out there!
The Touhill Family
